Areas I help with in psychotherapy

I am able to work with clients with a large range of challenges. Some people find their issues quite clear to locate and describe – perhaps because of the emotional toll they have taken through particular areas of their life like work or relationships. Other people have a less tangible sense of things, other than an awareness that they are suffering too much and would like some help.

A space for all of these can be made in our work, and there is an appreciation that things constantly evolve with new problems and opportunities arriving. Below is just an example of areas we can explore:

  • Anxiety including worries and panic symptoms

  • Depression – low mood, apathy, feelings of worthlessness and pointlessness

  • Identity and belonging - including experiences of feeling othered and disempowered, perhaps in relation to race, sexuality, gender, health problems or other hardships

  • Romantic relationship problems, such as feeling disconnected, intimacy issues

  • Experiences of loss and transition – such as bereavement, break-ups, major life changes

  • Work and career issues – such as stress, dissatisfaction, low self-esteem related to work, difficulty finding meaning

  • Social and friendship issues – challenges maintaining or losing friendships

  • Repeated harmful patterns of behaviour – addictions, toxic or compulsive patterns

Psychotherapy is just one way to approach these challenges. We would begin with an initial meeting to give you the chance to talk things through and get a feel for whether trying further sessions is something that could be helpful.
